2015 What A Fan Awards NFL Fan of the Year

LOS ANGELES - Sept. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Recently the 2015 What A Fan Awards wrapped up its third year honoring dedicated devoted fans for their contribution to sports. The Award Show is the worlds only event of its kind, it was created in 2013 specifically to recognize passionate fanatics in all genres of both professional and collegiate sports. Held in Orlando Florida for the last three years the event has provided recognition for some of the most visable fans in sports. There are several categories fans can be nominated for which include the four major leagues, soccer, nascar, college football and basketball. Additionally there's an American Sports Icon Award which both Dick Vitale and Muhammad Ali have won, an online media and sports video parodies category just to name a few. The show has been moved to Los Angeles, California beginning July 2016 and will be held the same week of the ESPY's.

This years NFL Fan of the Year is John Havok Adkins, he's a diehard Baltimore Ravens fan. His love for the Ravens is only rivaled by his love for his family and country. He's been a Ravens fan since middle school and travels around the country to support his beloved team. His passion is infectious and he's respected by oppossing teams fan base which we found to be a quality we wish more fans would embrace. His emotional acceptance speech touched everyone in the audience and we couldn't be more excited for this amazing fan. We caught up with him after the event to see how winning felt and here's what he had to say;

How did you feel when you found out you had won the What A Fan Awards for your years of devotion to a sport and team you love?

Havok: I literally almost passed out. If it wouldn't been for my good friend Gabe "SuperBill" Jaquez, (a Buffalo Bills fan) I think I would have hit the floor. I can vividly remember standing on stage, my palms were drenched in sweat, my eyes were burning from the bright lights beaming down on my face and a million thoughts were racing through my mind. I can recall everything going quiet up until Greg "Wrecking-Ball" Wilson had the microphone and was announcing the winner. All I heard was Greg say and the winner of the 2015 NFL Fan of the year is John "Havok" Adkins, I lost it. I started crying and thought, Libby (my wife, deployed overseas) we did it. Everything I had done the last 20 years and everything she had helped me do along this crazy ride had not gone unnoticed. I was so humbled, yet honored to accept the award and knew I would do everything in my power to make "Fan Man" and everyone associated with What A Fan proud. It's such an amazing feeling to be recognized and appreciated for all you do in the stadium stands and everything you do in the community. I love my home (Baltimore Maryland) and the great Baltimore Ravens franchise. I was so ecstatic to win this for my wife, kids, family, friends and all of the other people that have supported me these 20 years through all the ups and downs. This is only the beginning for Havok, the next chapter has just begun. I can promise you that all the extra time, efforts and money I have away from my family will go back to the streets of Baltimore and anywhere else I lay my shoes. I will do great things.

You're now part of the historic foundation of the worlds only recognition award show for sports fans. What does that mean to you?

Havok: Since day one I've been extremely excited, yet fortunate enough to be involved with such an amazing organization like this. It's so awesome to be recognized for what you do in front of and behind closed doors on a constant basis. I never thought when I started this over 20 years ago it would blossom into something as beautiful as it is today. We celebrate so much in life, why not celebrate fans for their dedication and contributions to the sports industry and their teams. That's what I love about this great organization, they do JUST that.
