EmanuelAfrican Methodist Episcopal Church has long played a significant role in South Carolina’s history, including involvement in the slavery era and the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, and has also hosted important leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Founded in 1816, the nearly 200 year old church is the oldest African Methodist Episcopal Church in the South. The donation was made in response to a call to action given by Marcus Lamb, President and CEO of Daystar Television, during the network’s flagship program, Marcus & Joni, in which he requested viewers to give towards EmanuelAfrican Methodist Episcopal Church.
