Don also started Don Bouwer Fire & Safety Equipment back in the 1970s. Now known as Ten-8 Fire Equipment, the company employs over 90 people and has grown to be a major United States distributor of fire and emergency apparatus and equipment, focusing on serving customers in Florida and Georgia. All five of Don and Marilyn’s children attended Bradenton Christian School. The Bouwer name has remained an almost constant presence at the school thanks to their children, grandchildren, and daughter-in- Both Don and Marilyn were and continue to be athletically inclined. Don was a highly respected Division 1 College Football Official and Referee in earlier days and Marilyn still plays tennis at a nationally elite level for her age bracket. Both are avid golfers. To honor the Bouwer’s contributions to Bradenton Christian School, and specifically to BCS Panthers athletics, Don will toss the coin prior to the kickoff of the September 11, 2015, Panthers’ home football game against Shorecrest Preparatory School.
