“The truth is that a college degree is usually needed to help young adults get off to a great start,” said Michael Morrison, CEO of GCC. “For a very brief commitment of their time, MMKC volunteers may dramatically impact their children’s lives by helping them pay for their college educations.” By committing as little time as one week or one month, a volunteer may start a Higher Education Initiative (HEI) Fund to help pay for some or all of the child beneficiary’ Volunteers are asked to enroll local merchants in GCC’s Merchants for Community Improvement Program (MCI) and help them create special deals, discounts or VIP services to incentivize GCC Members to visit their businesses. Enrollment is free of charge; merchants pay no advertising, sponsorship or other fees. A volunteer earns HEI Fund base points each time she or he enrolls a new Merchant Partner. The more merchants that a volunteer enrolls, the more the child beneficiary’ Money accrues in a MMKC fund as Global Club Card memberships are sold. Each volunteer receives a portion of the fund, determined by the number of merchants the volunteer enrolls in the MCI program. Every three months, volunteers will receive a HEI Fund Summary from the Fund Administrator. GCC expects the fund to grow exponentially over time. Volunteers also receive complimentary 10-Year Global Club Card membership cards (a $199.99 value) so that they may take advantage of local and national Merchant Partners’ special offers. The MMKC program expires on January 1, 2016. Public benefit corporations represent a new wave of social entrepreneurship and are required by law to make "a material positive impact on society and the environment." GCC promotes its Merchant Partners on its website and social media. GCC Members realize increased purchasing power, Merchant Partners benefit from free promotion and new business, and local nonprofit organizations receive donations from people who might not otherwise have considered donating. Ultimately, communities benefit from the increased money made available by GCC to local charities and from empowered consumers.
