On January 16, 1920, five trailblazers at Howard University in Washington D.C. founded the sisterhood on the precepts of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood. Kappa Iota Zeta chapter was chartered on September 15, 1980 in Atlanta, Georgia. The chapter is active in the local community and works diligently helping other people excel. Kappa Iota Zeta’s well-known signature programs include its Hall of Fame Gala, Marynette Lovejoy Book Scholarship, Miss Blue Revue Pageant, Stork’s Nest Blitz, and Tea with Z. The Stork's Nest Program is a cooperative project of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and the March of Dimes Foundation for more than forty years. Stork’s Nest aims to increase the number of women receiving early and regular prenatal care in an effort to prevent cases of low birth-weight, premature births and infant deaths. End
