By: Reunion Bank of Florida Sleaford qualified to run for the American Cancer Society by surpassing the minimum fundraising requirements. To qualify for the Marathon the mimimum is $3,400 and Sleaford was able to raise $4,600. “I’m running in honor of my father, William "Bill" R. Sleaford, Jr., who passed away from Myleodpastic Syndrome 18 months ago, as well as other family members and friends who have suffered from this terrible disease,” Sleaford said. “I look forward to reaching the finish line in celebration of their lives and in memory of their struggles with cancer. “It has been so humbling to receive such amazing fundraising support from Reunion Bank customers, shareholders, directors, as well as my family and friends,” he added. “I am so grateful for every dollar they have helped me raise.” The New York City Marathon will be Sleaford’s first. This year’s race takes place Nov. 1 beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Staten Island and ends in Central Park in Manhattan.
