High-End 1U Rackmount Network Security Appliance Offers Enhanced Performance and Reliability

(http://www.portwell.com), operates more efficiently and delivers higher performance than its predecessor by using high-end 1U design to provide maximum scalability and functionality. The new 1U rackmount network security appliance supports the Intel single or dual Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 product family and Intel C610 chipset. CAR-6000 features 8 DDR4 ECC RDIMM/LRDIMM/UDIMM slots, up to 4 front-access NIC modules, redundant power supply, 4 field-replaceable unit (FRU) fan units and an IPMI 2.0-based module.

According to Andy Yu, American Portwell’s project manager, the new CAR-6000 provides greater performance through its implementation of the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 and access to up to 128GB of ECC memory. It also heightens flexibility by featuring up to four 2.5˝ HDD and up to 32 GbE RJ45/SFP ports. Reliability is ensured by 400W AC/DC redundant power supply unit.  “Available in Q1 of 2016, the new CAR-6000 is the ideal choice for enterprise network security applications such as Next Generation (NG) Firewall, UTM integrated with anti-spam functionality, anti-virus, VPN and IDS/IPS, as well as network management applications, including routers, gateways, load balancer, application delivery controller and bandwidth management appliance,” says Yu.
