15th Annual Denver Christkindl Market opens Friday, November 20, 2015

GACC hosts 34-day traditional Christmas market; estimated attendance 175,000
 
DENVER - Nov. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- The German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado Chapter (GACC) announced today the dates for this year’s Denver Christkindl Market. Beginning on Friday, November 20th, the Christmas market will be open every day until Wednesday, December 23rd. The GACC estimates this year the event will draw somewhere around 175,000 market goers.

Located at 16th Street and Arapahoe Street, Denver, Colorado – Skyline Park – the 34-day event features authentic German cuisine, entertainment every night during the event and local, national and international artisans displaying their finest products in an old-world market setting.

“This event has grown in recent years, with the highest attendance in 2014 thanks to marketing efforts and some great Denver weather,” said Joshua Seeberg, previous Executive Director of the German American Chambers of Commerce (GACC). “I’m thrilled that the new GACC Executive Director, Natalia Wobst, will take the reigns for this cherished Denver tradition. Ms. Wobst is more than qualified to take this event to the next level.”

Event schedule includes:

Market Opens 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20: Live music begins at 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Story Time in the Holiday Tent: Children under 12 can enjoy a story each day at the market, courtesy of Usborne Books. Story time every Mon/Wed at 3:00 p.m. and Tuesday/Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

Grand Opening 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21: Ceremony with statements from German honorary consul to Colorado, Paul Maricle, and Natalia Wobst, the new executive director of the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado Chapter. In keeping with the Market tradition, the opening will include the 2015 Christkind.

Denver Philharmonic Orchestra performs: 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21

Southwest Skating Rink at Skyline Park opens 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27: The Christkindl Market warming tent will be serving warm Gluehwein (Glow wine) and hot chocolate.

St. Nikolaus Day, Sunday, Dec. 6: St. Nikolaus Day celebrations with appearances from St. Nikolaus in the afternoon.

Parade of Lights, 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5: Market will stay open until 10 p.m. both days.

Traditional Advent Calendar Give Away, Dec. 1through Dec. 23: 7-foot advent calendar with 23 days of vendor gifts to market goers. Pick up free tickets inside the Holiday Tent – no purchase necessary. Winners will be announced each day at 12:00 p.m.
