Dec. 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Ann Frank said “Give and you shall receive, much more than you would have ever thought possible.”

Community service and giving is a cornerstone of the Holy Cross Regional Catholic School (HCRS) education. And, over the last two years, students at the school have made more than 20,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the Daily Bread which serves the homeless and hungry in our area.

Eighth grader Ashley Laneve who completed an exploratory class in social media and marketing at HCRS has created a video documenting the effort. She is hoping to inspire others by telling this story of “spreading kindness with peanut butter and jelly.”  The video can be found at - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0N31Ww3qDY

“Daily Bread serves a free, hot lunch every day of the year, but we knew many of our guests were going without any additional food until the next day's lunch,” says Executive Director Tracey Grau. “That was until the wonderful students of Holy Cross Catholic School, who make sure there are pb&js, and often cereal, to take home and eat while sheltered down in tents and abandoned buildings. Spreading the love, indeed!”

Students will again be making sandwiches this Wednesday, December 9, after school from 3:15-4:15 p.m. The school is always looking for donations of loaves of 100% wheat bread; boxes/bags of healthy cereal; creamy peanut butter; and jam/jelly.
