PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - Dec. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- The Fusante No.1 hand grenade was first introduced in May 1915, using an updated faceted exterior for easier handling and effectiveness. Matthew Shively’s modern interpretation of this historic armament, the Fusante Blanc, re-creates the form as pendant lighting, employing white porcelain and brass rivet ornamentation.

“I enjoy the intrinsic beauty of interplay; the delicate porcelain shell representing the fragility of life against the explosive form of the grenade and the human cost of war,” says Shively.

The Fusante Blanc pendants have recently been installed at La Table restaurant in Houston, Texas. Melissa Stevens, of the Stevens Group, referred to Matthew as a “rising star” in a recent blog post about the restaurant, and that his “imperfectly beautiful lighting casts a glow that is simply enticing.”

The pendant light uses either an LED or standard socket fixture, and is cast in white porcelain with brass button or spike rivets. Crafted in the USA.
