Matthew Shively Reveals Newest Furniture Design

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - March 9, 2016 - PRLog -- The DIVISION TABLE is a collision of diverse materials resulting in a distinctive contemporary design. A new form emerges when the central bronze plate divides the black walnut into two equal planks, resulting in a union of what was once divided.

A self-taught wood and metalworker, Shively believes, "The tension created by one material forcing its way into the middle of the other results in a complete fusion of the elements, producing something that is greater than their parts.” His ability to create works of art is born of passion perfected by hard work.

The table is hand crafted from black walnut and bronze in his Port Chester, New York studio.
