Prichard started his distillery, based in middle Tennessee, in 1997, well before the craft distillery trend had taken root. Its first product wasn’t a whiskey, but a traditional American rum made from premium molasses. He heavily researched the 250-year history of rum, which was once the preferred spirit in the United States, and perfected his recipe prior to opening the distillery. “I am looking forward to my visit to McScrooge’s Wine and Spirits to tell my story about how rum, not tea, forged the fires of the American Revolution,” Over time, other products were added to Prichard’s Distillery, including liqueurs and a line of whiskeys. Attendees of the free event who are at least 21 years old will be able to sample several of its products, including Sweet Lucy, Sweet Lucy Cream and Sweet Lucifer liqueurs, as well as Prichard’s Fine Rum and Cranberry Rum. The distiller will be available for autographs. “Autographed bottles from a regional distillery make for unique Christmas gifts,” Barnett said. “Prichard’ McScrooge’s is located at 307 N. Peters Rd.
