Follow on Google News | Mosaic Harmony Spring 2016 Concert to take Place April 24 at UUCF in OaktonMosaic Harmony, an award winning interfaith, multicultural community choir, is pleased to announce their 2016 spring fundraising concert, in celebration of 22 years of service to the Greater Washington, D.C. area.
By: Mosaic Harmony The concert will take place on Sunday, April 24 at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax ("UUCF") in Oakton, VA in front of what is expected to be a capacity audience. For the past 21 seasons, the choir’s annual concert has featured local area gospel artists who are nationally known and who bring the spirit of what Mosaic Harmony endeavors – to unify the world one song at a time. The concert is a compilation of songs ranging from traditional and contemporary African-American gospel to music written by their dynamic and talented director and as the highlight of their choral season is the largest fundraising effort. As has been in the past few years, a silent auction with donations from choir members as well as various local and out-of-state businesses is showcased prior to the concert and has been met with great success for the choir’s fundraising efforts. Mosaic Harmony’s concerts are high-energy, inspiring performances that leave their audiences feeling uplifted and encouraged. Bringing together people of diverse cultures, ages, backgrounds, and more than 25 faith traditions to celebrate humanity is Mosaic Harmony’s vision to be a source of inspiration on a local, national, and global level. The theme of the 2015-2016 season has been about continuing to bridge harmony and partnerships, clearly aligning the mission and vision of Mosaic Harmony. A few years ago, a short documentary filmed by Perfect Bind Productions' LeeAnn Dance was completed and is available on the choir’s website homepage. as well as clips from the choir's three CD's. Over the past twenty years, the choir has performed five consecutive performances for the Martin Luther King celebration program at the Washington Hospital Center, a holiday performance in 1999 on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, four consecutive performances at the Pentagon, festival performance at Mary Washington College, a record fourteen consecutive performances at Mt. Zion Methodist church in Hamilton, Virginia, and, in 2011, a performance at DC Intersections. Additionally, the choir has assisted groups in raising tens of thousands of dollars for various charities including Coats for Kids, Capital Hospice, Buganda University, the Brain Tumor Foundation, the Lakota Nation and Habitat for Humanity, as well as many other notable charitable causes. Their performances have provided encouragement and hope to families in hospice care, residents of mental health facilities, residents living in retirement communities, and to the public for 22 years. Mosaic Harmony members prepare the entire season for their spring concert and often members who took sabbaticals for the season return to volunteer as spring concert staff. Ticket sales for the concert are available online beginning March 1 and program book sponsorship opportunities are also available ranging from $100 to $2500.
