Shermco Industries Executives Provide Expertise for Upcoming AWEA Project O&M & Safety Conference

DALLAS - Jan. 20, 2016 - PRLog -- February 8-10, leading owners, operators, turbine manufacturers, material suppliers, wind technicians, managers, health and safety professionals will meet at the AWEA Project O&M and Safety Conference 2016 in San Diego, Calif. to share best practices.

Shermco Industries’ executives will participate in the event, the largest gathering of U.S. operating wind industry stakeholders. Kevin Alewine, director of marketing and formerly the director of renewable energy services for Shermco, will be presenting an update regarding the AWEA Operations and Maintenance Committee at the opening ceremony on Monday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. Alewine serves as the co-chair of the committee. He will also chair a panel discussion titled “Optimizing Asset Reliability Data” on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 11:10 a.m., focusing on improving reliability and reducing maintenance costs by better utilizing SCADA and condition monitoring data collection and analysis programs.

Jim White, Shermco’s director of training and a NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional  will on a panel that discusses the  “Best Practices for Electrical Safety” on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 9:40 a.m. White is a NETA Level IV certified technician with more than twenty years of experience in the electrical industry. The panel will discuss best practices for managing electrical safety on wind projects and effectively addressing changing technology while following safety and compliance standards. White will provide guidance on defining and certifying a Qualified Electrical Worker.

Paul Idziak, vice-president of Shermco’s Machine Services Division and previously the sales manager for wind industry accounts, will contribute to a panel discussion covering wind plant balance of plant maintenance challenges and solutions.  Maintaining high voltage collector systems, multiple transformers and a major utility sub-station presents many opportunities for unexpected failures and some solutions for improving long term reliability, which will be discussed.
