Fruit juices plants, when technology meets quality

PARMA, Italy - Feb. 7, 2016 - PRLog -- According to the EU current laws, fruit juices cannot be added with sugar anymore. In 2012, the Council of the European Union approved a revolutionary rule that banned it from the list of ingredients, in order to enhance the healthiness and quality of fruit juices and nectars.

In fact, fruit is already sweet: why adding extra sugars? In the past, there were lots of producers that used to add it because the quality of the raw fruit was not that good, therefore its taste had to be hidden, in a certain way. Other producers used to add sweeteners their beverages in order to make them more appealing to kids. But sugars are dangerous for health, because they increase glycemic load, are among the main causes of overweight and obesity, and can trigger diabetes.

These rules apply to every kind of fruit juice marketed in EU, regardless of the country of origin (e.g. imported from extra European countries).

Even without sugars, the industrial production of juices can be a difficult activity, technologically speaking. To help producers, Italian company Prisma Tech developed a series of fruit juice plants that satisfy every requirement, from the basic need to the most sophisticated one.
