During his presentation he gave a history of Bonsai and explained the five basic styles of Bonsai trees. He also told how the living art of Bonsai has given him a truly rewarding hobby that will last a life time. Along with his presentation he displayed 12 of his Bonsai trees including Ficus, Juniper, Bougainville, Jade and others types of Bonsai. He also explained the basics of creating and caring for a Bonsai trees and had various tools used in the process on hand. Mark Givensel lives in Maui, HI and is originally from Cleveland, OH. He first became interested in Bonsai at age 11, when he saw a Bonsai tree on the last page of a shrub trimming book he purchased for his lawn care business. After moving to Hawaii at age 23 and traveling to Japan he started to learn to create his own Bonsai trees.
