AMD’s Brown Bag Empowerment Series Returns

MIRAMAR, Fla. - Feb. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- American Medical Depot (AMD) is proud to announce the return of its popular Brown Bag Empowerment Series (BBES). The Series is designed to advance careers of entry- and mid-level professionals through the development of important business skills. The BBES is facilitated by Beverly Kuykendall, AMD President of Government Business. Says Ms. Kuykendall, “AMD hires a balanced workforce which includes many young professionals that are just launching their careers. With the company’s fast-paced, metric driven culture, AMD strives to offer opportunities that build on individuals’ past experiences and present real-life exposure to business challenges and problem solving.”

The Brown Bag Empowerment Series is based on the principals presented in the book, Lean-In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead, by Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer of Facebook. In each BBES session, videos and discussion guides are used to drive meaningful conversations. The sessions take place once every six weeks during the lunch hour. AMD creates a safe forum for sharing of ideas and information by making participation voluntary, and department managers do not attend. Participants view a 20 minute online lecture from a recommended schedule of materials pre-selected by the facilitator based on the group’s interest. When the group meets, the topic is explored in depth, and the group practices how to put new skills into action. Discussion areas include power, influence, and business communication.
