DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - March 8, 2016 - PRLog -- Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare and the Stewart-Marchman-Act Foundation this month will dedicate the  playground at WARM at the Vince Carter Sanctuary in memory of Joan M. Kelly, a longtime Daytona Beach resident and WARM supporter on March 24. Kelly passed away on July 31, 2015.

Members of the media and the public are invited to:

Joan M. Kelly Playground Dedication Ceremony
March 24 from 5-7 p.m.
WARM at Vince Carter Sanctuary - SMA Behavioral Health Services, Inc.
301 Justice Lane, Building G, Bunnell, FL.

A social hour begins at 5:00 p.m. with the dedication ceremony starting at 6:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by the WARM Culinary Arts Program.

The Joan M. Kelly Playground was funded by the Stewart-Marchman-Act Foundation thanks to donations received in memory of Joan M. Kelly, who was a tremendous supporter  for the women and children of WARM. After a long career in nursing, Kelly served on the  WARM Community Support Council and had taken an active role in planning the annual Christmas parties for children of mothers that are in drug rehabilitation.

“We are so grateful for all who donated funds to renovate this playground for the children housed at our  WARM facility in Joan’s memory,” said Carolyn Sentelik, Executive Director of the Stewart-Marchman-Act Foundation. “We are sure Joan would have loved to see this project come to fruition and we are thrilled for the opportunity to dedicate it in her name for all she did in her lifetime to support women and children in Volusia and Flagler counties.”

WARM is a long-term residential treatment program for women exhibiting symptoms of drug and alcohol dependence, with slots designated for those women who are pregnant, post-partum, or parenting young children. The women live on campus in a therapeutic and supportive environment.  Those with children are able to have their children (under the age of six) in residence with them. Older children can visit overnight with their mothers on site on weekends.

WARM is a diverse, multi-cultural program providing a broad range of therapeutic, wrap around interventions, based upon the client needs identified during the admission assessment.  During fiscal year 2014-2015, WARM served 193 women and 89 children.  A total of 16 drug free babies were born to mothers living at WARM during the year.
