Principal Conductor Jaime Laredo Leads from the Orchestra

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - March 14, 2016 - PRLog -- In recent seasons, soloist-leaders Nadja-Salerno Sonnenberg, Cho-Liang Lin, and Jeremy Denk created conductor-less programs of power and intimacy, leading the orchestra as they play, and making the Phil's chamber orchestra concert the can't-miss event of the year.

On April 17, 2016 at 3 pm, Principal Conductor and renowned violinist Jaime Laredo will lead and play Vivaldi's scintillating Concerto Grosso in D Minor, featuring Philharmonic Concertmaster Robert Chausow and guest principal cello Melissa Meell, followed by Mozart's sublime 3rd concerto. Then Laredo trades his bow for a baton, and the orchestra fast-forwards 200 years, to the rich sonic textures of John Corigliano's Voyage. The concert ends with the percolating rhythms of Stravinsky's homage to the Baroque, Pulcinella Suite, featuring Philharmonic musicians: trombonist Hugh Eddy and double bass Gregg August.

Performing for over six decades before audiences across the globe, Jaime Laredo has excelled in the multiple roles of soloist, conductor, recitalist, and chamber musician. According to the New Yorker, "He has everything a virtuoso violinist needs. But he has more than that. He is a violinist of profound musicianship." This season marks Laredo's third as Principal Conductor.

One hour before the concert, listeners are invited to a preconcert discussion of the program with Jaime Laredo and some of the featured musicians led by Artistic and Executive Director Joshua Worby.

All performances will take place in The Concert Hall at The Performing Arts Center, Purchase

Single tickets range from $97-$30. Concert-goers 25 years of age or under pay half-price.
