Irish Bed and Breakfast to Mark 100th Anniversary of Easter Rising with Irish Dinner and Spirits

HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y. - March 18, 2016 - PRLog -- In recognition of the 100th anniversary of Ireland's famous "Easter Rising" in 1916, the Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast is honoring the B&Bs Irish heritage with a traditional Irish dinner buffet, Irish beers and whiskeys, traditional Irish music, and a weekend of Irish breakfasts.

"We have a rich Irish history and it's important that we remember the Caldwell legacy," said Dena Finneran, who co-owns the award winning Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast with her husband, John. "The Caldwell's came to the U.S. shortly after one of the first uprisings - the Irish Rebellion of 1798 famously led by Wolfe Tone -- with only the clothes on their backs, having been banished from Ireland for their involvement. By the last uprising in 1916 the family had managed to recreate their Irish estate here in the Hudson Valley and had made many significant contributions to our local community." Among the Caldwell's accomplishments -- helping to create the annual Orange County Fair (The US's longest continuously running County Fair) and buying and then donating George Washington's Revolutionary War Headquarters in Newburgh, which became one of the first publicly operated historic site in the United States.

The Caldwell House will host a traditional Irish buffet on Saturday, March 26, 2016 between 6 and 9 pm -- complete with leg of lamb, Shepherd's pie, corn beef and cabbage, potatoes, Irish soda bread, Irish coffee and many other  traditional favorites, including desert. A cash bar will feature a selection of Irish beers,  whiskeys, and, of course, Bailey's.

Entertainment will be provided by Irish and folk rock crooner, Kevin McComb. Kevin is a big local favorite; guests may wish to continue their celebration by taking the short walk over to Loughran's Irish pub next door.

All weekend long breakfasts will have an Irish theme - for example, Irish Eggs Benedict on Saturday morning, a nod in advance of National Eggs Benedict Day.
