Perlmutter Celebrates Financial Literacy Month with Young AmeriTowne Opening Ceremonies

 
DENVER - April 7, 2016 - PRLog -- In celebration of Financial Literacy Month, U.S. Representative Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) participated in a Young AmeriTowne Opening Ceremony. Young AmeriTowne is an educational program offered to 4th and 5th grade teachers to help teach students about business, economics and free enterprise in a fun and hands-on way. The Opening Ceremonies is a ribbon-cutting ceremony and swearing-in of elected student government leaders. The ceremony marks the official opening of Young AmeriTowne, a 17-business town modeled like real-life businesses.

"Young AmeriTowne is a tremendous program that provides invaluable life skills for young people, and it was a real highlight to take part in their Opening Ceremonies," said Rep. Ed Perlmutter. "By exposing kids to economics, business and finance at a young age, Young Americans Center for Financial Education and its programs are helping today's kids succeed professionally and personally as they become adults."

Various community leaders including Linda Childears, President and CEO, Daniels Fund, Don Childears, President, Colorado Bankers Association, David Kelly, Chief Risk Officer, FirstBank and Jeff Schmitz, Executive Vice President, Citywide Banks, joined 5th grade students from Blue Heron Elementary school, a Jeffco Public School on Wednesday to celebrate National Financial Literacy Month, an opportunity to highlight the importance of financial literacy and teach Americans how to establish and maintain healthy financial habits.

Young Americans Center for Financial Education, a Denver-based nonprofit that develops the financial literacy of youth and young adults through hands-on, real-life experiences is proud to have served over 678,000 youth since 1987.
