By: Joe Chyla Author Chyla announced he will attend the Authors Expo being held in Riverside and speaking about his newly revised edition of his best-selling novel, Brooklyn Days Brooklyn Nights a Crime Story. The event will provide an up close and personal meet and greet for book fans and local published authors. Scheduled to begin at 10am on Saturday, April 16th at the Riverside Arts Market located under the bridge at 715 Riverside Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32204, Chyla will be on the event's main stage providing a reading from his riveting crime story. Chyla has defined himself as an accomplished author and historian of Brooklyn's Bensonhurst section. He was born in Brooklyn New York and lived most of his early years in the community of Bensonhurst. Chyla worked as an electrician on the New York waterfront for 16 years and left New York in the late 80's for a different climate. In his words, "I learned at a very young age what not to speak about and what to ignore." He says it was a code that still sticks with him today. In fact, many of the neighborhood's lessons are very much a part of Joe's memories of those days in Bensonhurst. In his words, "I learned that you always stay dedicated to your friends and you have to have a sense of belonging. Although I left New York in the late 80s for a different climate, in a strange way I am glad to be out of the environment. But I still miss it."
