Follow on Google News | Careers for Introverts Who Want to Make a DifferenceBy: Universe Jobs People would be thrilled at the prospect of change for better, however a certain cross section, more specifically the introverts would cringe at the thought. This group apparently has a large presence, making up as much as half of the population. They are characterized by spending time all by themselves or maybe in small groups and tend to focus on one given task at a single stretch. They prefer to spend some quality time observing a situation before getting involved in the same. They do not take it very sportingly any sort of glad-handing or small talk that comes with a new job, on the contrary it is a nightmarish situation for them which they try and avoid at any given cost. Quite unlike the majority of the working population they had rather stay put in the world of their old desk job at the usual remuneration and this must not be construed as remaining cocooned in their comfort zone. The behaviour is ingrained very deep in their psyche and nature, their very existence, the overall personality. Unlike the rest of the population, they find the idea of networking constantly and trying to climb the career ladder quite insipid. For a true introvert, networking is indeed an excruciating experience and any role that requires them to face the public is sheer torture. Such people ought to exercise due diligence when seriously considering a promotion or a job change of any kind. For some shy folks the desire to go ahead and challenge themselves to be more social may seem to be a welcome change, however there is a big possibility of the whole exercise ending in a fiasco. On the contrary if the person sticks with the natural personality, they tend to be happier in the long run. For painfully shy people job hunting effectively comes across as a challenge, however there are a good number of professions where they can perform with consummate ease and derive sheer pleasure of job satisfaction. Some of the jobs may be high paying ones others may offer median salary figures. Let us examine a few of them. People who are not very comfortable with other people tend to be more fond of animals, a career in animal care and service provides them just the right opportunity to handle animals, which they love to do in any case. People handling is taken care of by other administrative employees. Again a solitary pursuit as a curator or an archivist in a museum or an auction house, would fill the days of the incumbent with historical documents, dated objects and precious works of art. A court reporter's job is to record the proceedings, they are required to come, sit, record and leave, and at times they are required to read back a transcript. Likewise Geoscientists work for a decent salary, spending most of their time outside in the field, effectively away from their colleagues, when they get back they are again locked in a lab or in front of a computer. The best of them all is the position of a social media manager, a person highly active on social media need not be doing any real world socializing for that matter. The job is a perfect oxymoron, requiring a lot of on-line time and the interaction is mostly limited to the computer, for a sizeable chunk of the time. An introvert is in fact spoilt for choice given the plethora of options available and eking out a living is a pleasure indeed, not a nightmare in case whatsoever.
