Pilot Butte Summit Seekers organizes the first annual Butte Thing at Pilot Butte

BEND, Ore. - April 22, 2016 - PRLog -- In partnership with Oregon State Parks, the Pilot Butte Summit Seekers have organized the first ever "Butte Thing" scheduled for April 23rd, 2016. The event, sponsored by dozens of local businesses and organizations, is expected to have over 100 volunteers turn out to complete restoration projects on Pilot Butte. The projects range from trail widening on parts of the nature trail, to trash cleanup and everything in-between, making a difference at Pilot Butte for years to come.

The Oregon State Parks Department has written a thank you letter to Volunteers and have committed to three more years of the Butte Thing establishing it as an annual event. Chris Gerdes from Oregon State Parks, in his letter to volunteers states, "Without the volunteerism of businesses and individuals, much of this might not be possible."

The Butte Thing has been made possible by generous contributions from local businesses such as; Worthy Brewing who stepped up to sponsor the Butte Thing and provide beer for the after-party, Beervana who is hosting the volunteer after-party, and Rebound physical therapy who made a generous donation that got the ball rolling, to name a few.

The Butte Thing will take place on Pilot Butte on April 23^rd, 2016 from approximately 6:30 am through the Beervana bash starting at 2pm. Volunteer assignments have been made and volunteers will be working throughout the morning and afternoon on various improvement projects.
