Follow on Google News | Rebuilding Together gains skilled carpenters for Union Build DayBy: IKORCC Local 301 members participate in numerous volunteer projects each year, including Rebuilding Together Indianapolis. More than 40 members were eager to donate the labor and tools to make necessary repairs on the Indianapolis homes. Repairs included replacing front and storm doors, locks, load bearing walls, failing porch beams, vinyl siding, rails, fences, floors, cabinets and interior trim, among others. "We value the opportunity Rebuilding Together Indianapolis gives us to use our skills to strengthen the communities around us," commented Michelle Boyd, Executive Director of Top Notch Indiana, an association that represents the Indiana union construction industry. "We also appreciate the chance to work side-by-side with many of our own customers and community partners. It really does feel like we are rebuilding Indy neighborhoods one house at a time." "Helping someone in need is by far the best community service we can provide," commented IKORCC Senior Representative Daniel Garcia. "A homeowner expressed her sincere gratitude to our group, and that really impacted all of us. A lot of people run into hard times, and it's not always easy to bounce back. We're so happy to offer our skills to make things a little bit easier for them." Brian Duncan, IKORCC Senior Representative, added, "Every single homeowner was very nice and thankful. It was time very well spent, and we're already looking forward to Union Build Day again next year!"
