Free HIV and Hepatitis C Screening coming to Midtown, New Albany

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - May 31, 2016 - PRLog -- Midtown Ministries will be hosting a Free HIV and Hepatitis C screening at Midtown Commons located at 1423 E Oak Street, New Albany, IN 47150 on Thursday June 23, 2016 from 8AM until 2 PM. All results will be confidential and available onsite within 15 minutes.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) helped in identifying and treating newly infected patients in the rural town of Austin, Indiana, most of whom contracted the virus after sharing contaminated needles during intravenous drug use. AHF responded by sending a mobile testing unit (MTU) to the rural town of 4,200 to provide free HIV testing, opening the doors of an HIV/AIDS clinic at Foundations Family Medicine (FFM) in March of last year.

From that partnership and commitment to serving residents in Austin and Southern Indiana, AHF hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony in December for the renovated clinic that provides medical care to people living with HIV and Hepatitis C on site at FFM, located at 25 West Main Street. Today, AHF's collaboration with Foundation Family Medicine serves dozens of patients regardless of their ability to pay.

FFM will be using their expertise to conduct the Midtown, New Albany testing.

Staff and volunteers will be available onsite after the results.
