Core News Facts: · Sinai Hospital Donor Memorial Wall is the first in the country to offer "Swipe to Donate Life" access 24/7 at a donor memorial wall. · "Swipe to Donate Life" has been implemented in Maryland since March 2015. This fully customized app runs on a mobile device (such as iPhone or iPad) and, equipped with a sled accessory from Barcoding, Inc., allowing an individual to register as organ and tissue donors by scanning the driver's license barcode. The donor's information is then securely added to the Donate Life Maryland Registry in real time. · The "Swipe to Donate Life" interactive registry kiosk was funded through a generous donation from the W.D. "Pete" Class Foundation. The Class family was impacted by donation when their son, Towson University football player Gavin Class, received a liver transplant in 2013.
