Follow on Google News | UPS Foundation Partners with Boys & Girls Club of Collier County for UPS Road Coad ProgramBy: Boys & Girls Club of Collier County The UPS Road Code program will officially kick-off in July 2016. The program will be offered to teens that will receive the same safety training used for UPS' own drivers. UPS has approximately 102,000 drivers worldwide and they are among the safest on the roads. UPS employees will be trained as volunteer instructors to teach the selected group of teenagers to learn different safety principles when driving. These safety principles will include a variety of topics ranging from basic instruction to the consequences of risky behaviors such as texting, talking on cell phones or drinking while driving. Teens will practice on driving simulators, which include life-like gas and brake pedals, a steering wheel and a computer screen that serves as a windshield to the program's interactive animation. "We are extremely excited for the opportunity to kick-off the UPS Road Code program right here in Collier County," said Theresa Shaw, president and CEO at the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County.
