Boston church to honor Sen. Elizabeth Warren for LGBTQ advocacy

BOSTON - June 3, 2016 - PRLog -- On the morning of the Boston Pride Parade (6/11/16), Old South Church in Boston will honor two champions of LGBTQ advocacy: U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Pastor Judy Hanlon, co-founder of the LGBT Asylum Support Task Force, which works to support and empower LGBT individuals who are seeking asylum or refuge in the United States.

Sen. Warren and Pastor Hanlon will be presented with the church's Open Door award during 11:00 am Pride Morning Worship - a high-energy, joyous service celebrating the LGBTQ community. Past award recipients include former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Rev. Frank Schaefer, who in 2013 made national headlines after being defrocked by the United Methodist Church for officiating his son's same-sex marriage.

Old South Church in Boston (645 Boylston Street) is an open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ, located in the heart of Copley Square at the corner of Boylston and Dartmouth Streets beside the Copley T station. (http://www.oldsouth.org)
