By: Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh & GiGi's Playhouse Each year, the President of the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh selects a local organization that will receive the majority of the Club's time, resources, and fundraising efforts, with the intention of making a difference within that organization and the community. The focus organization for the 2015-2016 club year President's Project was Read and Feed. During the course of this project, the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh collected school supplies and sorted books to benefit Read and Feed program participants, supported educational and fundraising events, and capped off the year with a gift in the amount of $1,928 - the dollar amount corresponding to the year of JWC's founding. GiGi's Playhouse is a nationally established group of Down syndrome achievement centers, with 29 locations in North America. The centers serve individuals with Down syndrome from infant to adult, as well as their families and the community. The Playhouse will provide educational and therapeutic programs as well as job training for adults with Down syndrome - all at NO charge to families! The programs will focus on all aspects of skill development including education, social skills, speech and language skills, after school tutoring, career preparation, independent living skills and more. GiGi's mission is to maximize self-confidence and empower individuals to achieve their greatest potential. GiGi's Playhouse's Triangle location will have a grand opening on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 2 - 4pm.
