DUBLIN, Calif. - June 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Yours Humanly, a non-profit that provides access to education for disadvantaged children around the world, gifted school supplies to children in an event held at the Kidango Emerald Vista Center.

Schools and families alike are experiencing constraints due to budget cuts. There is increasing difficulty to provide funding for the necessary supplies, such as: books, computers, and other equipment. Studies show that inaccessibility to supplies compromises a child's ability to keep up with curriculum and class projects, giving them a disadvantage compared to their more prepared classmates.

That is why Yours Humanly continues to work with our local community to address some of the needs of underprivileged children in the Tri-Valley area. To serve Bay Area kindergartners from subsidized households, Yours Humanly has donated backpacks for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year to students at Dublin's Kidango Emerald Vista Center. The donated backpacks were filled with notebooks, pencils, crayons, and many such items to last the entire school year. By outfitting children with the proper tools, Yours Humanly's gifts better equip children to excel in the classroom.

In a brief ceremony on Friday, June 3, 2016, Sunny Singh, Founder and Executive Director of Yours Humanly, spoke about education as a tool to guide children to brighter futures. In attendance were students, parents, administrators, and community members.

"Let's give the students a round of applause," said Singh. "Yours Humanly is here today because we believe in you and want to see you excel in the classroom." Following short speeches from local community members, the school children were invited up to the front of the room to receive the gifted backpacks.

"It's amazing to see the swell of excitement in these children who want to come to school and learn every day. The students couldn't wait to receive their backpacks, and repeatedly mentioned how heavy the bags were given they were filled with all the supplies," said one parent.

This event was made possible thanks to a multitude of sponsors, including Dixon Ticonderoga, renowned manufacturer of the #2 pencil. Local individuals who played a large role in supporting this effort include: Assemblywoman Catharine Baker; Linda Rimac Colberg, Board Chair of the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau; and Arun Goel, Chair of the City of Dublin Planning Commission and candidate for Dublin City Council 2016.
