Music at the Mansion features Singer/Songwriter Mary McGuire

Singer Songwriter Mary McGuire performs Old Town Lansing at the Turner Dodge House & Heritage Center.

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. - June 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Singer Songwriter Mary McGuire performs music from her latest release Love Struck in Old Town at the Turner Dodge House & Heritage Center at 7pm, Thursday, July 9th. She is the 2016 recipient of the Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Americana Songwriter. Moving from the Midwest to the East Coast and back, Mary found that each place had a different soundtrack that influenced her writing - from the rock influences of industrial Detroit to the gentle folk rock influences from the shores of Martha's Vineyard to the rhythm of the horses clipping along on the car-free streets of Mackinac Island. Absorbing the distinct sound of the people and places where she has lived and letting it all influence her is what defines her characteristic songwriting style.

A fine example of Classical Revival architecture, the Turner-Dodge mansion is a National Historic Registered Place. The beautifully restored home was built in 1858 by James and Marion Turner, who helped establish the Capital City. The home was recently restored to the turn-of-the-19th-century period and is maintained by the City of Lansing Parks and Recreation Department as a Cultural Heritage Center.

Tickets are $10 and available at the door. The show begins at 7pm.

Turner Dodge House & Heritage Center. 100 East North Street, Lansing, MI 48906. (517) 483-4220
