By: Lake Norman Orchestra Andie has played the flute with the orchestra for the last two years and graduated from Community School of Davidson with a 4.3 GPA. In addition to the LKNO, Andie was a part of her high school's band, honor society, student ambassadors, and track and field team. In addition to her extracurricular activities, Andie worked at the Trump National Golf Course part time. Andie is enrolled at the Honors College at Western Carolina, where she plans to study nutrition beginning in the fall. On her scholarship application, Andie indicated that playing with the orchestra taught her how to "better manage her time between school, band, work, clubs, and with her preparation for weekly orchestra practice." She indicated that her experience with the orchestra "better prepared her for playing music at the collegiate level by growing and expanding her music skills." Andie shared that performing with the orchestra also helped her play with more confidence. The newly-created LKNO Instrumental Music Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who at the time of their graduation, has played a minimum of two years with LKNO, is routinely prepared for rehearsals and has participated in a minimum of four concerts per year. The recipient must be enrolled into a full-time bachelor's degree program. The Lake Norman Orchestra, (LKNO), conducted by Maestro Eduardo Cedeño, is registered non-profit community organization that embraces those community musicians who desire to improve their musicianship, share their talent with their peers and provide quality entertainment throughout the Piedmont region of North Carolina. With more than 65 active members ranging in age from 14 to 70+, the LKNO is committed to collaboration and outreach with artists from the community who may wish to participate as guests of the orchestra, including students from local schools and universities. The LKNO performs from four to six concerts a year. Orchestra rehearsals are held every Monday evening, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in facilities graciously donated by the Peninsula Baptist Church in Mooresville, NC. website: http://www.lknorchestra.org Find us on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/ End
