Second Annual Subaru Color 5k Raises Nearly $28,000 For Special Olympics Indiana

LAFAYETTE, Ind. - June 23, 2016 - PRLog -- With nearly 350 participants and the support of several local businesses and community groups, the 2016 Subaru Color 5K raised close to $28,000 for Special Olympics Indiana. The run, which took place June 18 on the grounds of Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc., raised 65% more than the 2015 event. Runners experienced six "color stations" in which colored powder was thrown at them.

"SIA is proud to support such a great organization as Special Olympics Indiana," said Tom Easterday, Senior Executive Vice President. "To be able to get so much of the community involved was fantastic, and we hope the event will continue to grow exponentially over the coming years."

Special Olympics athletes were at the event, not only to run, but also to lead participants in the "Athlete's Oath" and the national anthem. Runners started their race with a trip through the Special Olympics high-five tunnel.

Several local companies participated and supported the event, including Finish Line sponsor Bob Rohrman Subaru, Tri-N-Run, Breakfast Sponsor Bison Financial Group, K105 and WASK, Fresh Thyme, Culligan Water, and the SIA Foundation sponsored the event. Wabash National, and Heartland Automotive had the two largest teams in the event. Faith and Civitian provided volunteers.
