New Bavaria Memory Care Community Opens in South St. Louis City

ST. LOUIS - July 26, 2016 - PRLog -- Bavaria Memory Care, a new household specializing in care for individuals with moderate to mid-stage Alzheimer's and dementia, has opened in south St. Louis city. Nestled on the fourth floor of the historic St. Louis Altenheim, the community offers 20 private residential suites in an environment designed to make residents feel safe, secure and joyful.

The boutique community features a country-style kitchen with open dining area; cozy, home-like common areas; secure entries and exits; and complete handicap accessibility. All carpet, paint and furnishings have been carefully chosen to provide residents with a beautiful and comfortable environment.

Bavaria Memory Care's onsite household manager and care team are trained to support the individual needs and unique abilities of those living with Alzheimer's and dementia. The center also features a life enrichment program designed to enhance the quality of life of those affected by memory loss.

"Daily activities such as expressive arts, normal daily home activities, regular outings and outdoor activities are all used as the catalyst to create meaningful connections," says Cindy Woods, LHNA, Executive Director at the St. Louis Altenheim. Expanding the St. Louis Altenheim's continuum of care, the community also adds specialized memory care resources to the St. Louis region, which currently lacks sufficient memory care facilities to serve the community's needs. According to the Alzheimer's Association, one in nine Americans over the age of 65 has Alzheimer's Disease, and one-third of Americans over 85 are afflicted by the illness.
