Large Multi-Parcel RFP to Develop New Gateway Community in Washington, DC

WASHINGTON - Aug. 3, 2016 - PRLog -- The Government of the District of Columbia ("District"), through the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development ("DMPED") and the Department of Housing and Community Development ("DHCD"),  seek to develop multiple vacant parcels and storefronts, near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue SE and Good Hope Road SE, into the MLK Gateway Community. This unique opportunity to realize the economic development potential of this retail corridor that will transform this intersection into a vibrant neighborhood gateway into historic Anacostia, as well as to downtown via the new 11th Street Bridge.

The DMPED and DHCD agency partnership seeks a proposal for a development that will transform this intersection into a vibrant neighborhood gateway spurring additional private development in Historic Anacostia. A high priority has been placed on aiding the redevelopment efforts of the Sites to serve as the gateway into historic Anacostia, as well as the gateway to downtown via the new 11th Street Bridge. The Sites sit along an existing "Great Streets" corridor and will anchor a new Martin Luther King Jr. Street Initiative whereby the street will act as a living memorial to reflect the dignity and valor Martin Luther King Jr stood for.

The District will only consider proposals that provide innovative, comprehensive, and community supported development solution for both the GHR Site and MLK Site in order to realize and introduce a true Gateway to Anacostia.
