The Autism Back to School Bash is free for families, and registration is mandatory for all attendees. It will take place on Sunday, August 14th from 1:00-3:30pm at Pearl Studios in Midtown, Suite 1204. The goal of the event is to help alleviate the financial burden that parents face during back to school season, while also celebrating the beginning of a new school year in an autism-friendly and positive environment. In addition to providing free school supplies from sponsors such as Curemark, Jack Daniels Motors, and Different Roads, the event will offer family and autism friendly activities such as a photo booth, crafts, raffles, an interactive Soca dance performance by Bobcat Kids, and some sweet treats sponsored by Dough Donuts, TuLu's Bakery, and Insomnia Cookies. The American Autism Association believes in supporting families and individuals that have been affected by autism by increasing awareness of the varied difficulties individuals with autism spectrum disorder face. Back to school can be an incredibly stressful period for parents of children with autism, who often lack the support systems and resources necessary to ease the transition.
