The Theorists Produce Festive Weekend to Amplify Homegrown Art

AUSTIN, Texas - Aug. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- The Theorists Collective celebrates the closing weekend of their season performances and festivities at the Zilker Hillside Theater September 17th 7pm-10pm and Master Classes in Bravo's Blackbox Theater the 18th 11am-5pm. Their 2016 residencies took them across Dallas, Houston, VA, NY, MX, GA, AL, NC, TN, including hosting SXSW audience choice award documentary, Mr. Gaga (http://www.mrgagathefilm.com/), by the Heymann Brothers. The Saturday evening-length premiere of HIRAETH (https://vimeo.com/176517963) features work by The Theorists and guest TBX artists Kira Blazek & Jason Akira Somma. More than 170 artists from around the country participated in nine TBX workshops of Gaga, CounterTechnique® and choreographic scores with Deborah Hay. Twelve TBX artists join The Theorists onstage.



HIRAETH premiered at the Majestic Theater as "Fun and brilliance…delightful mess."-Theater Jones. It closed The Wanderlust Project with 55 performers in a "spine-tingling finale…a subtle political message about love and cooperation."- Dallas Morning News. Morrow garnered attention as both a performer and choreographer when dance critic Nancy Wozny selected her solo, The Lady Of, as one of the 16 Standout Performances of Fall 2014, describing her movement quality as "a sassy mix of precision and abandon, something we rarely see on contemporary dance stages." Morrow's String Theory was originally commissioned by Avant Chamber Ballet for the inaugural Women's Choreography Project received raving reviews and has since toured six theaters.

Guest Artists, The Rattletree School of Marimba, fill the hillside with an exhilarating soundscape for a community finale featuring runners, rock climbers, aerialists, UT and McCallum Fine Arts students, swing dancers, and a skype duet with Dance Ability advocate, Amy Litzinger, and traveling Austinite, Kelsey Oliver. This second season was made possible in part by collaborators from The University of Austin, AISD, Austin Creative Alliance, Fusebox, Body Shift, Power for Parkinson's, Balance Dance Studios, TBX [ Toolbox Series ] Austin Swing Dance Syndicate, Tango Tribe, The General Consulate of Israel Southwest, Shalom Austin, AJFF, AM Arts, & Ballet Austin. This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
