Join Forces With Flate To Promote & Celebrate 2016 Manufacturing Day/month

Aug. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- It is that time of the year when we at FLATE are starting to focus our efforts on Manufacturing Day (http://madeinflorida.org/manufacturing-day/), one of the BIGGEST events of the year celebrating American innovation in manufacturing, and to inspire the next generation of world-class, high-skilled, high-tech manufacturers in America. This year (as in the past three years) FLATE is committed in implementing a multi-faceted, statewide strategy to make MFG Day/Month another blockbuster success. FLATE, FloridaMakes, Manufacturing Alliance of Hillsborough County, Regional Manufacturers Associations across Florida, and our statewide industry and educational partners and stakeholders are joining forces to promote and celebrate 2016 Manufacturing Day (MFG DAY) and Month. If you would like to coordinate/host/participate (in any capacity outlined below) for 2016 MFG Day/Month please respond to FLATE by Wednesday, Sep. 7.

Last year FLATE and its network of statewide partners worked cohesively to coordinate and organize industry tours for hundreds of middle and high school students and teachers. This strategic partnership enabled students and educators across Florida to visit manufacturing companies on Manufacturing Day and throughout Manufacturing Month. It also helped place Florida at the #1 spot in the nation, for the third consecutive year, in hosting the highest number of industry tours and manufacturing related events for MFG Day/Month. FLATE recognizes the hard work and dedication of all its statewide partners. Manufacturers, Regional Manufacturers Associations, Regional CTE Coordinators, school districts, professional organizations, and many individuals contributed to local and regional events that culminated in 4,770 middle and high school students from 50 counties across Florida touring approximately 159 high-tech manufacturing facilities. This year we're hoping to do even better, and we need your continued support and participation to make MFG Day/Month a success, and make Florida #1 again.

There are many ways for you to participate in 2016 MFG Day/Month. You can:

Coordinate/organize, or host "Made in Florida" student industry tours and provide student lunches
Host an Open House or other open event for the community
Donate to MFG DAY Student Tours and Tee Shirts. More information at http://madeinflorida.org/manufacturing-day
Get a local and/or Regional Proclamation for MFG DAY and/or MFG Month
Schools/Districts can provide Transportation, Teacher Substitutes and Chaperones for students
Use Manufacturing Lesson Plans in the classroom
Download and Use the 2016 MFG Day Poster and MFG Day in Florida Logo
Survey student attendees, parents, teachers, and industry hosts (FLATE will provide surveys and summarize all state data)
Publicize/Promote local, regional and statewide MFG Day/Month events in local/regional press and social sites

FLATE will once again take a statewide leading role in helping coordinate "Made in Florida" manufacturing day industry tours for students taking place across the state on Friday, October 7th.  FLATE will also assess the impact of tours on students regionally, and statewide through pre and post industry tour surveys. Although we recommend that a company try to host tours on October 7, any tours taking place during October are considered MFG Day/Month Industry tours. In addition, FLATE will work with regional "MFG DAY teams" helping connect schools with companies, and supporting media publicity, designing and delivering student tee-shirts and student surveys.
