Follow on Google News | America's Favorite Comfort Food Mr. Mac's Founders Open Their Doors to FranchiseesAhhhh, macaroni and cheese…America's favorite comfort food, right? But, did you know that some mac and cheese recipes go way back to 1769 and come from all over the world?
By: Mr. Mac's Macaroni & Cheese Patrick Cain and Valerie Anderson, the founders of this addictive taste sensation, left their more corporate careers behind to bring their food-loving passion to create a menu that is loved by every age and member of the family. "We really wanted to find our own niche and boy did we hit the mark," states Cain. "We set out to create a casual family atmosphere that would bring people together and enjoy good wholesome food in a fun and different way." There were plenty of burger and pizza places, but the Mr. Mac's concept proved to be a delightful change of pace that starts with their own signature Béchamel sauce…the magic foundation of the concept. The entrees are assembled and baked to order and served in a heavy skillet. Dine-in guests can choose a Classic All American macaroni and cheese or experience a variety of some 20 tasty combinations like the Blazin' Buffalo Chicken Mac, popular Philly Cheese Steak Mac, Garden Veggie Mac and of course the Lobstah Mac, a New England favorite. Guests can even create their own mac and cheese masterpiece by adding whatever combination of cheeses (there are 12 to choose from!), fresh veggies, meats and specialty sauces and seasoning. Another unique and popular feature of Mr. Mac's is their Hot & Ready or Take & Bake Trays that feed up to 12 hungry mac and cheese lovers. Guests can call in tray orders for easy pick-up on their way home from work. The Take & Bake tray offers the convenience to have the tray in the refrigerator and bake it whenever they choose. At the same time that Cain and Anderson were creating and building a very successful concept, they were looking to find a second and third location for their expansion. They continued to get requests from their avid fans wanting a Mr. Mac's in numerous states and even as far away as Europe. It seems that their Manchester, New Hampshire location, which is just off I-93 and minutes from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, brought plenty of people through their doors that didn't just live down the street. These fans would get back home and start craving Mr. Mac's and send e-mails and Facebook messages asking Mr. Mac's to expand to their hometown. "It was in our very successful fifth year that we realized that the fastest way we could expand Mr. Mac's was to partner with those who share our passion for this concept. We realized that we had the expertise to create a franchise plan that would make this work for everyone. It's a very exciting time," said Anderson. Kids enjoy their classic mac, the foodies love the flavor inspired mac and cheese and can't wait to experience seasonal specialties like The Parisian Mac which is an earthy, savory dish featuring truffle oil, truffle butter, mushrooms and gruyere cheese. The Greek inspired Mykonos Mac combines the briny, tangy flavors of the Mediterranean region with fresh mozzarella and feta cheeses along with artichoke hearts, Kalamata olives and sundried tomatoes. And, if that's not enough, most of the Mr. Mac's menu can be ordered Gluten Free which makes it a favorite dining destination for those who thought they had to give up pasta! The Mr. Mac's team worked for over a year to perfect and develop the special gluten free recipes that put this delicious pasta treat back into so many people's lives. So, where will the next Mr. Mac's be popping up? This unique concept is turning heads in the fast casual dining market and the owners expect the next locations will be in New England and most likely be in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. However, the original Mr. Mac's in Manchester will always be lovingly run by Pat and Val, "We love seeing that emotional connection people have with our product. Macaroni and Cheese just brings a smile to your face and it will always be our baby!" They welcome inspired foodies and restaurateurs to consider owning their own Mr. Mac's in their local area. Initial investment ranges from $340,100 to $733,300 which includes a Franchise Fee of $35,000. For those who know franchising, Mr. Mac's is offering a declining royalty scale, a very attractive feature. Cain and Anderson believe that owners should be inspired to develop sales, so as sales grow, the percentage paid to the franchisor goes down. "We believe in the American Dream…because we are living it!" states Anderson. "We want passionate owners to join our growing family, and we want them to be able to realize their dream of owning their own restaurant. We hope that joining Mr. Mac's will allow them to build a business that supports the local community not just with great food, but also a place for good people to find work. If that happens in small towns all across America, we will be quite happy," said Cain.
