(UVA) is very pleased to be presenting it's 2nd annual Allston-Brighton Art & Architecture Bike Tour. The narrated 2-hour tour on Saturday October 8th, starting at 10:30 am, will be led by UVA's Executive Director, John Quatrale. The tour starts and end at UVA Headquarters 10 Guest St., WGBH/Brighton Landing West in Brighton. bike-tour/) event. The ride explores the rich history, creative culture and local art sector of these two vibrant neighborhoods. The 11-mile tour celebrates a vast array of exceptional public works of art from local artists, nationally-recognized and historically significant neighborhood landmarks, in addition to innovative urban planning and groundbreaking design initiatives that will help shape the future architectural landscape of Allston and Brighton. Participants will also get to attend a special exhibit at UVA headquarters at the end of the tour, where there will be light refreshments and the display of many original works of art courtesy of local artists from UVA's creative community.
Some of the sites on this urban and river route include: the New Balance World Headquarters and the training sites for the Bruins and Celtics (under construction)
, WGBH, 119 Braintree St. Artist studios, Allston Depot (Pizzeria Regina), Honan-Allston Library, Harvard Ceramic Studios, Harvard Stadium, Harvard Business School, the historic St. Gabriel's Monastery, Brighton Library, the Christian Herter Park and Center and the historic Speedway race track complex and many individual public art installations. If needed, there is free validated automobile parking in the parking garage across the street at 15 Guest St. The rain day is October 15th.
All proceeds from this event will go towards UVA's arts programming.
