NEW RIVER GORGE, W.Va. - Sept. 14, 2016 - PRLog -- Over six long weekends from Sept. 9 to Oct. 16, 2016, ACE Adventure Resort will be updating its steals and deals weekly – check online at http://followace.com/ -- as it celebrates an epic whitewater river – The Gauley – during its annual peak season.

"We plan our trips to coincide with scheduled Friday to Monday dam releases so we recommend that rafters check often for packages and rotating specials and deals deeper than our love for big whitewater," advises Heidi Prior, Marketing Director for this 1,500-acre year-round playground in West Virginia's southern hills.

With discounts that Prior says may plunge 50 percent, the resort's goal is several fold: to extend summer fun as long as possible; to mark the annual return of world-class rafting on one of the wildest late-flowing rafting rivers in the country; and to offer extraordinary value to outdoor adventure before folks hunker down for winter.

Steals and deals will apply randomly to a variety of programs offered.  Here's a sampling of four value-driven packages that include meals, transportation to and from the river and river and camp gear, guide and rafts:

Gauley Upper: Basic Upper Gauley Package – Full Day is a 12-mile rafting trip on Class III-V whitewater, inclusive of a 14-foot waterfall. Per person rate is from $129. https://aceraft.com/collections/adventure-packages/products/fall-upper-gauley-package-all-day

About Gauley River: The Gauley that runs through the heart of West Virginia's mountains is considered one of the most exciting stretches of commercially runnable whitewater in the world. To whitewater enthusiasts, it's a "must do!" The catch is, one can only raft its most challenging whitewater in the fall.  From the Friday after Labor Day until mid-October, the Army Corps of Engineers on weekends releases water from the Summersville Dam at a rate of 2,800 cubic feet per second. As it rushes downriver, the flow creates huge waves, runnable waterfalls, eddies and holes that provide all the thrills a rafter could wish for.

Administered by the National Park System, this river has been designated a National Recreation Area for its beauty and challenging rapids targeting thrill-seeking adventurers worldwide. The river is 105 miles long and its rapids range from Class II to Class V+. The most notable of these are called the "Big Five" rapids, all Class V:  Insignificant, Pillow Rock, Lost Paddle, Iron Ring and Sweet's Falls – each one intimidating and powerful. Peak season is from (summer) April to August and (fall) September through October. The ultimate season is the fall, although the Gauley does run all summer long usually at lower flows.

Rated the #1 Adventure Outfitter in West Virginia, ACE Adventure Resort offers whitewater rafting along with a variety of supported adventures such as zip lining (http://aceraft.com/collections/adventures/Zipline), mountain biking (http://aceraft.com/collections/adventures/Biking), disc golf (http://aceraft.com/products/disk-golf), stand up paddle boarding (http://aceraft.com/collections/adventures/SUP) and rock climbing (http://aceraft.com/collections/adventures/Climb-and-Rappel). The adjacent 70,000-acre New River Gorge National River is an option for miles of wilderness exploring afoot and on horseback or fat tire bike.
