JAIPUR, India - Sept. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- Our team is always very much concerned about the demands of audience. It is therefore decided by the chefs of jaipurthepinkcity.com to bring a series of traditional and exotic fasting recipes for the coming Navratri festival.

This series was started on last Wednesday, September 7, 2016 to embrace the joy of fasting with new and unique Sago Delight Recipe shared by Sonia Goyal.

"Fasting days gives us a chance to get back to the roots and deviate from the day-to-day affairs. The recipes made with ingredients including sabudana (tapioca), kuttu atta, singhara atta, fresh vegetables, fruits, milk, yogurt, makhanas and other dry fruits are preferred as they are filling, nutritious and digestive too", Sonia Goyal explained about this series.

"Sago delight is a healthy food with a tasty twist to serve at dinning table. It belongs to Indian cuisine and made with minimal ingredients. Sago or sabudana is a food which is full of energy and carbohydrates so it is good to eat during fasts. A person who is ill can also eat this and digest easily", she added.

You only need to soak sabudana over night then have to cook with milk, sugar and saffron. When this sago kheer reached at room temperature, add some chopped fruits in it and garnish it with dry fruits chips. It is very creative and a fusion recipe and can be preapared in minutes if you have the soaked sabudana ready in your hands. It can be served at room temperature but best enjoyed chilled.

To enjoy this recipe, you need very few ingredients including:

1. Sago

2. Milk

3. Saffron

4. Sugar

5. Almond and Pistachio Chips

6. Apple

7. Babugosha or Soft Pear

8. Pomegranate

"There are lots of restrictions during fasting when it comes to food. This is the reason why Sonia Goyal shared this Sago delight sabudana recipe for this festive season. "Sabudana is widely used during fasting days because it has a low level of fat and protein. On the other hand, it is rich in carbohydrate and gives good energy during fasts", Sonia explained about the recipe.

100 grams of dry sabudana or tapioca gives you 355 calories, including an average of 94 grams of carbohydrates, 0.5 grams of dietary fibre, 0.2 grams of protein, 10 milligrams of calcium, 1.2 milligrams of iron and traces of carotene, thiamine, ascorbic acid, fat etc.

According to ayurveda, sabudana kheer or porriage can neutralize high body temperature and hence considered as one of the best summer foods.

The sago kheer can be served in times of tummy upset and/or fever for kids or adults, when it is necessary to eat light food.

Sonia Goyal also shared that regular consumption of sabudana keeps blood pressure levels under control. Also, the potassium present in it aids healthy blood flow and lowers the pressure on the cardiovascular system. It is a weight gain food so it helps to not loose weight during fasts. So if you're skinny and wish to gain weight naturally, you can add tapioca to your routine diet. Tapioca or sabudana prevents gas, indigestion and constipation problems and is good for your metabolism and digestive system.
