SAN FRANCISCO - Oct. 19, 2016 - PRLog -- D-EYE, a leading developer of revolutionary mobile medical devices, is pleased to announce the exhibition of its portable retinal imaging system at this year's American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference and Exhibition in San Francisco, Calif. Oct. 22-25 at the Moscone Center, Booth 2212.

Invented by Italian Ophthalmologist Andrea Russo, D-EYE's breakthrough lens design seamlessly aligns with the camera and LED light source of several Apple iPhone models to screen for a variety of pathologies, while eliminating distracting corneal glare.  Captured images may be shared via text or email or moved to the camera roll of the smartphone (patient ID removed).  Or, images including patient ID may be transferred to the D-EYE ImageVault™, a cloud-based HIPAA compliant platform.  The ImageVault permits pediatricians and other practitioners to quickly and securely move D-EYE retinal examinations from their smartphones and easily store, analyze, and share them for further assessment—a turnkey, telemedicine solution.

D-EYE is the modern digital ophthalmoscope, ideal for viewing and recording the red reflex examination and screening for a variety of conditions, including retinoblastoma, optic nerve head and retinal colobomas, congenital cataracts, and shaken baby syndrome.

"D-EYE is much easier to use than the traditional ophthalmoscope. Practitioners find the optic disc in seconds and do so at a comfortable distance from their patients," said D-EYE CEO Richard Sill. "Children see their parents using smartphones all the time, so they are relaxed during a D-EYE examination.  And, parents are pleased when their pediatricians show them the eye health issue on the screen of the smartphone," he continued.

D-EYE is compatible with iPhone models 5, 5S, SE, 6, 6S, 6+ and 6S+ and the iPhone 7 in December. The D-EYE system is available for $435

At AAP 2016, D-EYE executives will illustrate the retinal imaging system's capabilities through live examinations and are available for interviews. For media appointments, please contact Heather Hewit at 732-213-0823 or Heatherh@lotus823.com
