Ultimate Medical Academy Helps Pack 9,000 Pounds of Food for Feeding Tampa BayUMA's involvement with Feeding Tampa Bay is one of the many service projects and outreach initiatives the school has participated in during 2016.
More than 20 UMA volunteers helped sort donations that will help get food on the tables of local hungry families. The efforts of the UMA volunteers helped prepare 9,560 pounds of food, which will provide more than 7,900 meals to local families. "Volunteering at Feeding Tampa Bay was a great experience," Feeding Tampa Bay is part of Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks that fights to end hunger through their food pantries and meal programs. The nonprofit organization helps provide food to more than 46 million Americans each year. Recently, Feeding America donated two million pounds of food to help those affected by Hurricane Matthew. "It was heartwarming to see Ultimate Medical Academy staff come together and donate their time to help the less fortunate," said Dan Soschin, the executive overseeing philanthropic initiatives at UMA. "Although we are active in all areas of our community, UMA has volunteered a lot of time and resources to addressing local hunger." UMA's involvement with Feeding America Tampa Bay is one of the many service projects and outreach initiatives the institution participates in each year.
