BOSTON - Nov. 11, 2016 - PRLog -- 11th Boston Turkish Documentary and Short Film Competition started with the screening of "Kedi" by director Ceyda Torun at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The screening created a big splash for the competition opening night and ended with a long-lasting applause by the audience. The competition opening reception followed the film screening, attended by guests, film enthusiasts, film critics, and directors, with live music by Turkish ensemble Neotolia.

The first of its kind in North America and celebrating its 11th year, the competition has transformed to a tradition and has received a remarkable international attention.  A total of 44 films are screened in this year's program at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Goethe-Institut Boston, and Boston University. In this rare opportunity, film enthusiasts in Boston are able to explore works of the young filmmakers first hand.

This year 360 films were submitted to the competition.  In addition to the jury, audience will also be able to vote for the "Audience Awards". Winners of best film awards in the competition will meet again with the cineasts at the 16th Boston Turkish Film Festival in March 2017.
