PLYMOUTH, Mass. - Nov. 14, 2016 - PRLog -- America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration

The Three Day National Event ranked the No. 1 Historical Thanksgiving Parade, as rated by America Online, is just weeks away. Drawing an attendance of  over 200,000 people, it offers a family friendly environment with much to do for adults and children of all ages.

The only historically accurate chronological parade will also give tribute to the military, veterans, many historical events and anniversaries.

"Our parade takes on so much historic importance," said deMacedo. "It's important to celebrate and commemorate our history in our annual parade."

We kick off with free historic tours of the waterfront on Friday afternoon, followed by the free PIDC Patriotic concert in the evening.  This year we will welcome Ricky Lee, a nationally recognized  patriotic country singer and the wonderful American Originals.  Also hosted by our own Channel 5 Eye-Opener Team from Boston.

On Saturday morning the parade opening ceremonies begin at 10:30 on the waterfront and then the much anticipated America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration Parade, a chronological visual historic storybook steps off to delight everyone.

All of our floats are unique and personally designed, hand crafted by volunteers, and showcase a standard of excellence in craftsmanship.  The finished product floats by the thousands who come to view this visual story book providing an educational experience and historic timeline of our history.

We begin by honoring Wampanoag natives and the first Pilgrim settlers, including a scale model of the Mayflower. America's Hometown Express Train, Cornucopia Float, Victorian Carolers and  Saint Nicholas are among a few that will provide a historic and seasonal ambiance to the parade.

The America's Hometown Express continues to chug along, bringing tons of food and hundreds of meals to needy families as a part of America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration the weekend before Thanksgiving.  A school bus transformed into a locomotive has collected food from a crowd of over 200,000 whose bags are put in the locomotive and coal car along the parade route.

Part of the mission of America's Hometown Express is to inspire Americans in "America's Hometown," as well as around the nation to have a meal on every table during the Thanksgiving Holiday and all year. Don't forget to bring your non-perishable food donation for the America's Hometown Express and help us fill up!

A few new floats for 2016 include The Bicentennial of the Cultivated Cranberry, a beautiful float celebrating it's 200th year anniversary and a special tribute Honoring the Fishing and Lobsterman Trade.

Following the parade, you can wander into the Portal to the Past, striking up conversations with historic heroes from the past, learning their history and living the ways of the Natives, Pilgrims, and Patriots.

Under the large tent on the waterfront, The New England Food Festival is filled with the delicious samples from restaurants in our area. Over 17 local restaurants will bring their best to the tables. Attendees are guaranteed a culinary experience like no other in New England!

Illumination Thanksgiving, presented by Plymouth 400 is back. Join us and Plymouth 400th for the annual Illuminate event at 4:00 PM on Hedge House Lawn in Plymouth. After inspirational performances and speeches, the community is encouraged to join us at Illuminate Downtown Plymouth.

Sunday hosts our annual Harvest Market with special vendors from the Plymouth Farmers Market. This event includes a full day of live music complimented by local farmers and food makers selling and sampling their products.
