Follow on Google News | ![]() The Projection Booth Podcast Celebrates 300 EpisodesBy: The Projection Booth "It's been a banner year for the show," says host Mike White. "While I always feel like we're on the edge of breaking out into something bigger, I think we made some real strides to getting the word out about the podcast." The Projection Booth is a weekly film discussion podcast hosted by BlogTalkRadio. Each episode is dedicated to the discussion of on particular film by putting it into historical context, often bringing other supporting films to light, and almost always featuring interviews with people directly (or indirectly) involved with the film in question. Some of the more notable interviewees in 2016 include Oliver Stone, Christopher Lloyd, Gerrit Graham, Nicholas Roaeg, Larry Karaszewski, Bruce Dern, Annette O'Toole, Ted Kotcheff, Jack Thompson, Nino Castelnuovo, Fred Dekker, Tom Atkins, and Laura Harring. The most-downloaded episode of 2016 seems like it will be Episode 292 in which directors Keith Gordon and Vincezo Natali joined White for a four hour break-down of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. Other favorites include episodes on Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls, David Lynch's Mulholland Drive, Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs, and Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo. "We don't always cover 'big' films," says White. "In fact, some of my favorite episodes are those where we talk about movies that need more attention or even a Blu-Ray or DVD release like Coke Sams's Existo. It's a terrific film from 1999 that talks about a world in which the Moral Majority has won political power and how terrible that is for the artistic community. Thank goodness that can't happen here in the good old U.S.A." And with that, White begins to cry. The Projection Booth is available via http://www.blogtalkradio.com/ End
