By: OCEANAIR INC. Brenda brings more than 35 years of experience in import-export trade compliance and supply chain management. She held roles in Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding, operations, order management, logistics, supply chain management, and manufacturing. During this time, Ms. Barnard established relationships with Partner Government Agencies (PGA), which include the Department of Commerce (DOC), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Department of Energy (DOE), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fish and Wildlife (F&W), and the United States Custom and Border Protection (CBP). In addition to these relationships, she successfully developed, provided training, and implemented cradle-to-grave global trade compliance programs and technology control plans approved by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and NRC. With an extensive career in managing domestic and foreign import/export operations, as well as various international security and global logistics programs, Brenda has an in-depth understanding and experience in Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications, License requirements and exceptions, The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Anti-Boycott Regulations, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), and third-party logistics (3PL). Ms. Barnard is a Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO®). She also maintains certifications in AES and ITAR. Her background also includes an Export Controls Certificate of Training from BIS/DOC and she is an ISO9002 Certified Internal Auditor. Brenda's addition to the OCEANAIR team fills an integral internal role that will help the company strengthen its relationships with the DOC, NRC, and DOE, while also assisting from a compliance perspective with improving seafood supply chain management and expanding OCEANAIR's customer base within the oil and gas industry.
