WASHINGTON - Dec. 14, 2016 - PRLog -- "CELEBRATE. CREATE. CONNECT." This was the theme of "Fast Forward 2060 (#FF2060): Highlighting Legacy and Action in the Asian American and Pacific Islander Community Under President Obama and Beyond" which was held recently at the DAC or District Architecture Center of AIA|DC (the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects).  The venue is located in the heart of Washington, DC's vibrant and bustling Penn Quarter District, just a few minutes away from the White House.

The energy inside DAC matched the energy outside even if the fall temperature in DC was at its 30s. The premise of the event? Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) are now the fastest growing racial group in the U.S., expected to more than double to over 50 million by 2060.  Aside from celebrating the accomplishments within the AAPI community under President Barack Obama's Administration, the event asked how does the community create leaders from all sectors to mobilize itself in all relevant directions and how does it connect the progress with the upcoming Administration of President-elect Donald Trump?

Hosted by Allyn Hoang, Emmy award-winning news anchor and host on "Eye Opener TV", a nationally syndicated morning news show airing on The CW, the day-long pop-up exhibit and event boasted of AAPI speakers from government, media, entertainment, business and non-profit industries.  Myx TV, the only English-language multicultural Asian American entertainment network in the U.S., represented not only as a sponsor, but also as a key part of panel discussions and event entertainment.

Myx TV General Manager Miguel Santos was interviewed by Maulik Pancholy, best known for playing Jonathan on the Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award-winning NBC comedy 30 Rock, and Sanjay on Showtime's dramatic comedy, Weeds.  The topic covered for this one-one-one was "Lifting Up AAPI Talent".

"I think Myx TV's role is really continue to do what we do, which is be a platform for Asian Americans in entertainment. And I think there's not enough out there. We're the only one right now that exists on linear to actually feature Asian American talents," said Santos.

Santos added that Myx TV could play a big role in the AAPI community as they look forward and beyond 2060.  "It's fantastic to have forums like these that actually get people together to talk about issues, and hopefully come up with solutions for our problems in the future," he said.

Prior to the one-on-one panel talk with Santos, Myx TV host/producer Roslynn Cobarrubias, who is also the co-founder and CMO of mydiveo, introduced one of the new talents being promoted by Myx TV: Filipino American Tim Atlas who caught the attention of America as a contestant on Season 9 of "The Voice". Atlas received thunderous applause from the audience when he performed "Ten Goodbyes" from his EP Lost In The Waiting, and a cover of "Candles" by the indie folk English band, Daughter.

Also representing for Myx TV at the event are Project Manager for Millennials Allen Palos and Community Manager Karmina Landicho.

Other speakers included: Katarina Berg of Spotify's Global HR Department; U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng of the Sixth Congressional District of New York; Nisha Ramachandran of the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans; Marita Etcubanez of Asian Americans Advancing Justice; Navdeep Singh of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association; Rita Pin Ahrens of Southeast Asian Resource Action Center; Sarah Ha of Teach for America; Amina Abbas of Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum; Isha Weerasinghe of the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations; Seema Agnani of the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development; Katrina Dizon Mariategue of the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center; Kham Moua of OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates; Congressman Ami Bera, M.D., representing Sacramento County; Dr. Franklin Odo, visiting professor of American Institutions and International Diplomacy at Amherst College in Massachusetts; David Nakamura and Michelle Ye Hee Lee of The Washington Post; Indira Lakshmanan of The Boston Globe/Politico Magazine; Shefali Kulkarni of BBC News; Dr. Tung Thanh Nguyen and Dr. Mary Ann Young Okada of the President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders; Esther Yu Hsi Lee, immigration reporter at ThinkProgress; and Kalwis Lo, Director of Policy and Advocacy at Scholarship America.
